Job overview

Do you want to work in a GOOD and rapidly improving academy where “leaders…are committed fully to improving the life chances of their pupils?” Do you want to work within a team who are “tearing down barriers to learning successfully, at a remarkable and breathtaking speed?” (Ofsted 2017)

Outwood Grange Academies Trust provides a high quality learning and cultural environment that inspires and motivates children. Leadership development, succession planning and capacity building are also major priorities for the Trust.

Since joining Outwood Grange Academies Trust in 2015, Outwood Academy Ormesby has achieved its best ever GCSE results in 2016.

We are seeking to appoint an energetic and inspirational classroom practitioner to join our Science team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for well-qualified, driven professionals who are enthusiastic, motivated and really want to make a difference to the lives of young people. Our vision is ‘Students First’ and you will be joining a strong team of professionals working to this sole aim.

You will be well supported by an experienced team as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience.

Being part of the Outwood Family of Schools means that you are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week, as well as further comprehensive programmes of professional development provided through the Outwood Institute of Education - a nationally recognised Teaching School. Additionally, there are opportunities for staff to work and progress across several academies, if desired.

Interim Chief Executive Officer - Lee Wilson

Associate Executive Principal: Gemma Trattles

We are an 11-16 academy based in the large, north-east town of Middlesbrough.

The academy received a good judgement in their 2017 Ofsted inspection. However in July 2022 the academy was given a notice to improve judgement. Leadership has significantly changed and a comprehensive improvement plan has been implemented to secure sustainable long term change for the academy. It is an exciting time to join the academy’s committed team and join them on this important improvement journey.

Taking a holistic approach to education, valuing vocational, practical, creative, and academic qualities equally, we believe that learning should be both enjoyable and enriching. We are innovators with a knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, helping them to reach their potential.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally. We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
