Behaviour is excellent. Our parents and students have high aspirations and teaching spaces are inviting and well resourced. The school is within walking distance to West Ham, Plaistow, Canning Town and Star Lane stations and is close to the dynamic London Docklands, which can be seen from the schools playing field.

The Science Curriculum Area was refurbished a few years ago, with new laboratories, an open space with ICT resources for students to use and quality teaching resources. The Science Curriculum area is a close knit family which supports one another. This will be a good opportunity to develop your Teaching and Learning skills in a very successful team. We have created a personalised Key Stage 3 curriculum and are currently developing the new Key Stage 4 Curriculum, which aims to build on the students personal achievements, resilience and independent learning, helping them to develop the skills to become successful learners and increasing enjoyment for the subject. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and creative practitioner to join our Science team. The person appointed will be committed to raising the quality of Teaching and Learning, inspiring the students to reach their full potential and therefore raising pupil attainment.

Applications from both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are very welcome.

About Eastlea Community School

Eastlea Community School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in the London borough of Newham, serving students between the ages of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Canning Town, has the capacity to accommodate 1200 students. Eastlea has a large number of high needs students including PMLD.

We pride ourselves in being a diverse school with over 80 different languages spoken amongst our students, many of these students are mid-phase admissions having newly arrived in the country.  We understand that our students need to be prepared for the fast evolving future where vital skills like resilience and independent thinking are as important as core skills and teamwork, and so in Key Stage 3 we follow the National Curriculum for Years 7, 8 and 9, with GCSE studies beginning at the start of year 10.

Key Stage 4 offers learning pathways to best suit individual students. English Baccalaureate is offered and students are encouraged to take a language and history/geography, our curriculum at this stage is designed to give students the best possible preparation for Key Stage 5 study.
