Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Science on a permanent basis from January 2021. Full-time and part-time (0.6) will be considered. Both experienced and newly-qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an 11-18 school, predominately serving the South East of Northampton. Through  teamwork and a shared desire to support and challenge every student in order for them to achieve their personal best, the school are building on the 2016 Ofsted ‘good’ judgement.

The school has a wealth of facilities that underpin the wide curriculum including; state of the art theatre, science lecture theatre, dance studio, drama studio, super learning centre designed for collaborative teaching, fitness suite, sports field, netball courts, basketball courts, gym and a full size sports hall. In the last few years they have been at the forefront of curriculum innovation and now offer their students an extensive and relevant curriculum choice.

The school is part of a growing multi-academy trust educating over 13,000 children in England. It was established in 2010 and has successfully transformed schools in England’s post-industrial cities and coastal towns: areas of economic disadvantage and with a history of academic underachievement. It inspires and enables young people to build successful lives on foundations of learning, resilience and employability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach across the ability and age range and act as a form tutor
  • Promote and uphold the values and ethos of the school and Trust such that the highest achievements are expected from all members of the school community
  • Act as a role model for staff and students
  • Take part in relevant training and development

You will work with strong teams of committed and supportive teachers who secure very good outcomes. All teachers have their own classrooms with interactive whiteboards and are always discussing ways to improve the provision and delivery learning. There is a real commitment to professional development within the school and the Trust making this is an ideal post for a colleague with future career aspirations.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Good honours degree level
  • Qualified teacher
  • Successful experience of using target setting, data analysis and curriculum innovation to improve performance
  • Evidence of promotion of innovation in teaching and learning
  • Experience of teaching at KS3 and 4
  • Knowledge of the Science Curriculum and assessment
  • The ability to analyse performance and to articulate reasons behind successful achievement and poor performance and successfully address this.
