Job overview

Wellfield High School is a close-knit community school where we strive to get the balance right between support and challenge, so that every individual student achieves their personal best. We are currently enjoying an exciting new phase at the school and we are now seeking a science teacher able to teach Physics to GCSE who is interested in joining our team.

• Have you a passion to help young people make progress?

• Have you high aspirations for yourself which will help you to inspire and motivate our students to believe they can be what they want to be, helping them to increase their self-esteem?

• Can you engage students with a positive mind frame, empowering them to take on challenges and activities?

If so, why not become part of our new exciting future at Wellfield High School, in an executive partnership with Endeavour Learning Trust and Tarleton Academy, which is already providing opportunities for both our staff and students and transforming our school to make rapid progress.

For our staff, we are firmly committed to ensuring this is a job that can be enjoyed, where everyone can flourish. We pay close attention to work/life balance and, across the trust; we are developing strategies that take a common sense approach to those aspects of the role that could become an unnecessary burden on workload such as feedback and marking and centralised detentions.

Our Teaching School is central to our Trust and our teachers learn together, sharing their practice and encouraging and supporting each other to get the best out of our working day. The candidate will have opportunities to work with other colleagues in the Teaching School to support and develop the teaching of science with our family of schools.

As part of the interview process candidates will be required to teach a sample lesson. This will be 45 minutes long on a topic of your choice, designed to inspire and challenge a mixed ability group of Year 8 to develop an enthusiasm and curiosity for your specialism physics.

Candidates should ensure that they and their referees are easily contactable, with the correct phone number and email address and able to reply promptly if references are requested.
