Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science.

The successful candidate will be required to teach Physics or Chemistry up to KS4.

First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and one who enjoys team work. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students.

A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.

Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in Science education. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of developing scientific literacy for the future life-chances of our students.

In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. The department is large with a wide range of experience and the skills to support a teacher just starting out in their career or to collaborate with a more experienced candidate. We offer excellent professional development opportunities and a range of well-resourced labs including a computer laboratory.

Standards of behaviour are very good indeed. We achieve this because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also we do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in.

This is a superb opportunity to come and join a school where you will succeed and see our students make great progress over their time with us.
