Job overview

Teacher of Science

Ryedale School sits in a beautiful rural location and is within easy commuting distance of York, Thirsk and Northallerton.

We are seeking to appoint a part time science teacher to join our ‘Outstanding’ school and science department, although for the right candidate – one who could deliver both science and maths at Key Stage 4 – we would offer this as a full time position.

Ryedale School is a leading secondary comprehensive with results that place us amongst the highest performing schools in in the country, (our Progress score for 2017 is 0.64). Building on our ‘Outstanding’ judgements (Ofsted 2012, Local Authority Review 2015), we are continually developing and improving the educational experience for all learners. Our dynamic and inspirational team of staff delivers a high quality learning experience where every student has the opportunity to excel. We are seeking a highly motivated colleague with the enthusiasm and vision to inspire young people to develop enquiring minds and a real interest in science (and maths for those interested in the full time positon).

Within the Ryedale Federation, we are passionate about the education of our children, continuous professional development of all staff and a strong partnership with parents and the wider community. This post presents fantastic professional development opportunities to the successful candidate, with the potential in the future to work across schools within the Federation.

We are also part of the Yorkshire Teaching Schools’ Alliance and are committed to the development of high quality teaching practices, which not only benefit our students and the progress they make, but supports outstanding teaching, learning and the development of our staff. Through the alliance we also facilitate ITT, provide school to school support and participate in joint CPD projects.

As a forward thinking school, we are currently part of the RISE project; an EEF funded project based on trialling evidenced-based research to support the development of teaching and learning. We would welcome a forward thinking individual who shares our desire to evolve in the ever changing landscape of education and the commitment to improve the educational experience for all learners.

We welcome visits from prospective candidates to experience first-hand all that the role within the Ryedale Federation has to offer. Please contact Stephanie French, PA to the Executive Headteacher, via email: sfrench@ryedale.n-yorks.sch.uk to arrange a visit to school. To apply, please send completed applications which should also include a covering letter (no more than one sheet of A4) to sfrench@ryedale.n-yorks.sch.uk Further information about Ryedale School can also be obtained via the Ryedale School website: www.ryedaleschool.org, the Ryedale Federation website: www.theryedalefederation.org and NYCC Jobs & Careers www.northyorks.gov.uk.
