Job overview

Sacred Heart Catholic School, Camberwell

We are seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join our highly successful Science Department from September 2020.  The position would be suitable for an NQT or an experienced teacher.

Sacred Heart School is a successful and oversubscribed 11-19 school in Southwark, London. We are a Catholic school with very strong moral values and a traditional approach to behaviour and discipline; we believe in honesty and trust.  Sacred Heart School consistently achieves outstanding academic results way above local and national averages in every subject area.  We also have an exceptional record of helping our pupils to achieve more than they think is possible: we are regularly in the top 5% of all secondary schools in the UK on Academic Value Added tables.  Our excellent record of achievement is a testament to the strength, determination and sheer hard work of this community and this has been reflected in the recent OFSTED inspection in which we achieved “outstanding” in each category.

Last year, 85% of pupils gained at least two GCSEs at Grade 4 and above, there was a 100% pass rate for Separate Sciences (Triple) and 22% of all students achieved at least two Grades 7-9. Sciences at A level are an extremely popular option and we have a 100% A* - E pass rate.

This role represents a fantastic opportunity to join a truly outstanding school.

The successful candidate should;

• Have a strong subject knowledge

• Have ambition and a passion for learning

• Be able to deliver outstanding classroom practice

• Have high expectations of all learners

• Be able to work collaboratively with others

We expect you to be passionate about ensuring the best possible outcomes and experience of Science lessons for every one of our students. You will be a creative teacher who is ambitious for the students you teach and your own career development.
