Responsible to: Senior Leader of Science
As a school we have worked as a whole staff to develop a five year curriculum which supports our students through Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and ensures that each student is equipped to continue their learning journey post-16.
At Compass School Southwark, students study English, Maths and Science for a minimum of 5 hours each per week, from Year 7 onwards. This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to not only ensuring that Compass students have a good grasp of the core academic subjects, but also affirms our commitment to delivering a creative and innovative curriculum, where students can both take more time to deep dive into a subject, explore a topic at the periphery of the curriculum or respond to the real world.
In choosing successful candidates, the panel will be seeking outstanding classroom teachers with the ability to embrace and deliver the vision of the Compass Schools Trust, with the aim of establishing the Compass School in Southwark as the most sought after school in the Borough.
As the school is still small, applicants must demonstrate that they have the skills and experience to confidently take on a high profile role in the school.
Science is a core subject at Compass School, with students studying 5 hours of science per week throughout KS3, increasing in KS4. This allows the science team to deliver innovative lessons and exciting programmes of study, to inspire our students to follow careers in science.
