About the opportunity:

This is a new post due to subject expansion and increased student numbers.

We are looking to recruit an excellent Teacher of Science who will add value to a high performing team. Applications are welcome from those with any specialism. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our committed and enthusiastic faculty: we pride ourselves on our innovative and forward-looking practice.

The Science Department is located at the centre of the school in well-resourced laboratories and our faculty of 15 teachers and 3 technicians work together to deliver inspiring lessons. All members of the team teach across the age and ability range. Science is a popular subject; around half of KS4 students take separate sciences and over a third of KS5 students study one or more science subjects.

A comprehensive programme of support and training will be made available to the successful applicant.  Any ECT appointed will be supported with a reduced timetable, a mentor and a strong commitment to their professional development.

About The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College

The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College has 1560 students, 200 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Wroughton.  

The school was established in 1967 and was the first purpose-built comprehensive school in Wiltshire. We offer GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for students, while sixth form students have the option of studying a range of A-levels and further BTECs.   

We are committed to inspiring learners for their future through a vibrant, innovative, and supportive environment where students develop resourcefulness and resilience, accept responsibility, and are challenged to take risks in order to succeed. Maximising individual students’ development and achievement is what every day is about.
