Celebrating outstanding summer results yet again with positive progress 8 and a great performance with grades 7-9 an exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious, motivated and committed individual to join the college’s dynamic Science department.

At Shuttleworth College our students are at the centre of everything we do.  Our driving purpose is to make sure that they enjoy their time at school with us and achieve their very best.  Science is absolutely essential to this aim and as such we wish to appoint a qualified Science teacher who will inspire, motivate and engage our young people.

The successful candidate will be a Science specialist with a specialism of physics, chemistry or biology and a passion for the subject and an eagerness to inspire our students to reach their full potential.  Applications from NQTs would be most welcome, as the school provides a very supportive induction programme.  You will have the ability to consistently deliver captivating and inspiring lessons, engaging students through an outstanding, rewarding learning experience.  In return you will receive excellent guidance from an experienced and outstanding curriculum leader and you will be actively supported to develop your knowledge and your career.  A willingness to engage in wider school projects and contribute to the extracurricular life of the school is essential.

Shuttleworth College is a rapidly improving 11-16 College in Burnley located within easy reach of the M65 and is easily accessible from many parts of Lancashire and Manchester. Shuttleworth College is a mixed, mainstream secondary school in Padiham, near Burnley in Lancashire. It caters to students aged 11 to 16 and has approximately 1,111 pupils enrolled. 

Shuttleworth College was founded in September 2006 from the merger of Gawthorpe High School and Habergham High Sixth Form. It was provided with a brand-new facilities under the Building Schools for the Future programme. The school now boasts a restaurant-style kitchen, dance studio, sports hall, fitness room, tennis courts and all-weather sports pitches.

Shuttleworth College favours the traditional disciplines of English, maths and science. Much of the curriculum centres on these subjects as the school believe this makes the movement to the next phase of education more seamless.
