Southlands High School, a school in the newly formed Mosaic Academy Trust with Standish High School, is seeking to appoint Teachers of Science for Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidates will join our ever-growing Science faculty which will record improvements in examination results in 2018 and beyond. 

We enjoy state-of-the-art Science facilities in our specialist Science building which was opened in September 2011. 

These posts will be permanent contracts for suitable candidates from September 2018 or sooner if possible. Salary is on the Main Pay Spine point dependent upon experience. 

A TLR 2:3 is available to one successful candidate to lead on a key aspect of Science improvement.

Candidates should be hugely enthusiastic, passionate about their subject and have an excellent knowledge of Science and how to effectively deliver it to instil a love of Science in young people. The ability to develop very positive working relationships with students and staff and to be a team-player is essential. 

All candidates should complete the application form and attach a letter indicating their suitability for the post and outlining an area of Science improvement if interested in applying for the TLR post.

“Students make good progress overall as a result of consistently good teaching, which has continued to improve since the previous inspection. The proportion of students achieving national averages has increased over time, and increased significantly in 2012. Students who fell behind are well supported so they can catch up with their learning. Leaders and governors took immediate steps to improve the low results in science and languages in 2012 and as a result, progress and attainment in these subjects is improving. Leaders and governors have taken steps to improve the performance of groups of students who were achieving at a lower level than the majority of students in the school. Students behave well in lessons and around school. They support each other well in classroom activities so all students can learn and the vast majority show respect to visitors and adults when moving around the school.”
