TEACHER OF SCIENCE (full-time) (TMS/UPS) (TLR available for the right candidate)

required for January 2019 to teach girls of all abilities across the 11 – 16 age range  

The Science Department has celebrated high achievement over a number of years and 2018’s Year 11 Combined Scientists achieved 59% 4-4+ in Combined Science. Triple Scientists achieved 92% 4+ in Physics, 89% 4+ in Chemistry and 92% 4+ in Biology.   

Our aim is to ensure every girl reaches her full potential. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic colleague who can demonstrate their ability as an excellent classroom practitioner.   We require a Scientist who: 

• is able to make science lessons relevant and fun 

• has the personality to enthuse and engage 

• has excellent ICT skills 

• is able to teach all three Sciences at KS3, and Biology and one other Science at KS4 

• is committed to enrichment/extra-curricular activities

About Davison Church of England High School for Girls

Davison Church of England High School for Girls is a mainstream secondary school in Worthing, West Sussex. It caters for girls aged 11 to 16 and has approximately 1,187 pupils enrolled.  

Davison CE High School for Girls was originally founded in 1812 by Reverend William Davison as a place for the children of the parish to receive a Christian education and is the only mainstream school for girls along the South Coast.

Davison CE High School for Girls’ is an inclusive, forward thinking school, where girls can learn and develop in a secure Christian environment. Teachers nurture self-esteem and self-awareness, as well as teaching pupils the importance of spirituality and faith in everyday life.  

The secondary school's broad curriculum concentrates on the core subjects of English, maths and science, and also emphasises the importance of the Arts and education beyond the classroom. Supporting community projects at home and as far as Ghana,  taking part and winning competitions in areas, such as STEM, PE and the Diocese.

Morale among pupils and teachers is high at your inclusive school. Pupils we spoke to described the school as like a ‘big family’. Your staff share your vision and work very hard to maintain the school’s many strengths and to improve it further. There is a caring and stimulating ethos, which enables pupils to typically make strong progress and achieve well.
