Job overview

About Open Sky International

Open Sky International Paris is an English/French bilingual private school, situated in Boulogne-Billancourt on the outskirts of Paris. At the moment our classes continue up to Year 10 and in September we will open our first Year 11 cohort, who will take a range of GCSE and IGCSE qualifications. Our vision is to provide a bilingual education of excellence to our pupils, and our academic programme is built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula and teaching and learning methodology. We have high expectations and standards from the onset for all pupils and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. Class sizes across the school are small and our pupils are courteous, hard-working and motivated. We are a fully international school, catering for both French and expatriate families, and we are proud of our multicultural school community. Our staff at all levels are enthusiastic and passionate about education and possess a sound understanding of best practice.

Our school is still relatively young and is the first international school opened by OSI, an ambitious and innovative new education group based in Paris. Other OSI schools have recently opened in Egypt and Morocco and will open in other locations internationally over the next five years.

The role

We now wish to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced French Teacher on a full time and permanent basis from August 2022, to teach IGCSE French First Language and French classes in our equivalent of KS3 and KS4. The successful candidate will have native-level French.

French teaching is based on our internally developed curriculum and each class follows around six hours of French language and literature courses weekly. The successful candidate would also ideally teach the geography and history of France, to develop a real understanding and appreciation of French culture within our pupils. Some of the timetable may also involve supporting small groups of pupils who are new to the French language. The ability to teach Spanish would be an advantage.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will also contribute to OSI’s after-school programme and other curriculum enrichment activities.

We are seeking a professional who:

  • Is a native-level French speaker, with a good command of English and ideally experience of the requirements of the British and/or IGCSE curriculum.
  • Has a good honours degree and qualified teacher status.
  • Is an inspiring professional who enthuses his or her classes.
  • Is enthusiastic and passionate about education, with a sound understanding of best practice.
  • Can demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge and the capacity to teach their subject area with confidence.
  • Enjoys being a member of a team and always aims to work collaboratively.
  • Ideally is able to teach Spanish, although this will depend on the timetable organised by the school.

What does OSI offer?

The position comes with an attractive salary and support with housing costs if required.

How to apply

About Open Sky International France

Open Sky International schools prepare pupils to succeed in a rapidly changing, competitive and multicultural world. We have a real passion for education and our curriculum, teaching and learning methodology are built on the strongest aspects of a range of international curricula. We have high expectations and standards from the beginning for all children and we aim for our curriculum to be rigorous, broad and engaging. We understand that children are powerful learners, and we are confident that every child will make progress with the right strategies and support. This is why we do not practise selection at the admissions stage; instead, we believe that the role of a school is to enable all of its students to realise their potential.

Our curriculum targets both academic excellence and children’s personal development. We believe that academic excellence is compatible with children being fulfilled at school and respect, work, effort and critical thinking are all core elements of our philosophy.

Mastering languages is the key to cultures and to culture. Our group educational vision is for all pupils to achieve equal oral and written proficiency in French and English by the time they leave school. In addition, we believe that exposure to international cultures helps children to develop critical thinking and a set of values free of prejudice. We aim to provide children with the tools they will need to make the right choices in an open and globalised world, so that they can succeed in France or elsewhere. Our curriculum framework at all stages has been carefully designed to achieve this vision.
