Rossendale School are looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher to join our Teaching team!

We are looking for an ambitious, energetic and committed teacher who will expand the learning experiences of our pupils.  

The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

To be successful in this role, you must:

Have Qualified Teacher Status with a degree or equivalent in their subject specialism or appropriate subject.

Successfully be able to manage behaviour successfully, both in groups and individuals, as well as have the ability to motivate students to enjoy and develop a desire to learn. Whilst having an empathetic, resilient and forgiving approach.

Have the ambition to further develop personal skills, knowledge and competencies.

Ensure that you are able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure pupils fulfil their potential.

Be committed to developing outstanding practice and a passion for making a difference to the education and lives of our young people by building positive and supportive relationships.

Have the ability to be flexible and accommodating.

Rossendale is an Outstanding school catering for the needs of pupils with an Education Health and Care Plan from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5.

The school currently accepts pupils from some 16 different Local Education Authorities in the North West and although we are predominantly a day school, there is provision for up to 12 pupils to board Monday to Friday in term time only.

At Key Stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We are currently offer AS/A level courses at the sixth form provision, which is based in the local community. Given the disrupted nature of our pupils’ education, prior to their admission to Rossendale, we have had some outstanding examination results.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and ideally have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN, along with the following characteristics:

Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.  

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs.  Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer.  If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital

Rossendale is a school catering for the needs of pupils whose learning disability may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides education for young people aged from 7 – 18 years of age. Our Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 are based on the main school site, whilst Key Stage 5 have a specialist sixth form building based in the local community. At Key Stage 4 and 5 we offer a wide range of GCSE subjects, BTEC Awards, Functional Skills, ASDAN and Entry Level qualifications. We currently want to expand A level courses at the sixth form provision. The school admits boys and girls on both daily and residential placements. Rossendale School has an excellent staff team who are enthusiastic and supportive. Rossendale School was judged to be 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted.
