Job overview

Hours: part-time and term time only

We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of singing to support students and existing Music Department staff in developing its successful singing strategy.

In addition to directing and taking forward one of the Department’s four choirs, the successful candidate will be dynamic, inspirational and uncompromising in their commitment to providing outstanding individual and small group singing lessons. Working as part of a team on large-scale projects, and proficiency in adapting and arranging music for students ranging in experience from beginner to Grade 8 is expected, as is knowledge of appropriate wide range repertoire. Good keyboard skills and a willingness to engage with music technology are desirable.

This is a key post suited either to a postgraduate student or a more experienced practitioner, and is available on a 1 day per week basis (7.5h) or two mornings, term time only, for one term initially with the opportunity to extend to a longer term contract.

Rated outstanding by Ofsted in February 2015, Central Foundation is in the top 10% schools in the country based on GCSE outcomes. In 2016, 83% of our Year 11 students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths. Our music provision is one of the strengths of the school.

We are very ambitious in our aim to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. We set high standards for all professionals working at the school but we also provide a very strong net of support for both new and existing colleagues.

Central Foundation is:

  • an outstanding school (Ofsted, February 2015)
  • a school that is situated in a vibrant multi-cultural environment next to the ‘silicon roundabout’ on the edge of the City of London and with excellent transport links

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check.
