Teacher of Singing (VMT)

From September 2020, The Royal School seeks to appoint a dynamic and experienced teacher of singing, who will motivate and enthuse our pupils.  The position will include the following responsibilities:

  • Teach pupils from Year 7 to U6.  (Beginners to Diploma level).
  • You must be able to teach both classical and popular repertoire.  
  • All instrumental/vocal teachers are expected to incorporate some theory teaching into their lessons.
  • Prepare pupils for ABRSM practical exams, GCSE and A’ Level performance exams, University/Music College entry.
  • Regularly put pupils forward to perform in lunchtime concerts, larger recitals, community events, etc.
  • Be able to teach and prepare pupils for LAMDA exams, in conjunction with the Head of Drama.
  • Support and help to coach pupils preparing songs for school productions, concerts, assemblies, etc.
  • Be willing to promote singing and increase the number of pupils having lessons by way of taster sessions, assemblies etc.
  • Good piano accompanying skills would be an advantage.
  • The ability to teach and prepare pupils for Grade V Theory is also desirable.
