A Teacher of Sociology and or Criminology/ Religious Studies is required from September 2019 to teach as part of our Social Science department.
This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to work with 14-19 year old learners as part of a large and successful department within a well-respected, progressive sixth form college.
The college currently offers a broad range of social science courses, including criminology, sociology, religious studies and psychology in a diverse department offering the flexibility to make the most of the successful candidate’s unique skills.
The post may suit an experienced schoolteacher or a practitioner from an FE background, although we welcome applications form less experienced candidates, including recent graduates who can demonstrate the necessary skills and enthusiasm for the post.
With the short amount of time between the closing date and interview date, we have included the information on the Micro Teach task that forms part of the interview process. The Micro Teach is for 20 minutes - Introduction to Marxist Theories of Crime OR Introduction to Crime Reduction Strategies. This will be for a mixed ability group of Criminologists approx. 20 Year 1 students & a PC and projector will be available.

John Leggott College is a mixed, selective, non-denominational, general further education college situated in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. It is a 16-plus institution based on a single modern campus close to the town centre, with good access to surrounding rural areas. There are around 1,700 learners at the college, between the ages of 16-19, studying a range of academic and vocational courses.
The college was founded in 1958 as John Leggott Grammar School. The sixth form was established in 1968 in the midst of a Scunthorpe education reorganisation.
