Job overview

We are looking to recruit an exceptional Teacher of Social Sciences, with particular experience in teaching Psychology and Sociology.

We are an aspirational Academy based in Essex, just 35 minutes from London.  The Lower Academy specialises in the teaching of our KS3 students whilst the Upper Academy specialises in teaching our KS4 and KS5 students. The Academies are approximately 1 mile apart. This post will be based at the Upper Academy teaching KS4 & 5.

Both of our Academies are rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted and our goal over the next 12 months is to achieve ‘Outstanding’. We are confident we can achieve this and are looking for colleagues who share the drive and passion necessary to ensure every student achieves their potential. If this is you then you are just the person we are looking for to join our already successful team. We welcome applications from NQTs.

We are also dedicated to ensuring our staff fulfil their potential. As a member of our team you will receive excellent bespoke CPD that will support you as an outstanding practitioner. We will also provide opportunities to engage in leadership programmes to support professional development.

If you can enthuse, engage, motivate and challenge our students to make exceptional progress then we would welcome your application.

Closing Date: 27th April 2018
Position Available: September 2018

Tours of the Academies will be available for shortlisted candidates.

The Basildon Academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to DBS and health checks.

The Basildon Academies is focused upon developing the whole child; our curriculum has been developed to enable our students to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills so that they will become lifelong learners. This includes opportunities for linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technical, human, social, physical and artistic learning so that students make progress in a wide range of subjects.

We set high expectations of all our students and this, in turn, ensures we create a positive climate for learning in which every student can reach their full potential. Our Academy is a calm, orderly and purposeful environment where students enjoy their learning, make good progress and feel safe.

Our Sixth Form is a major part of the academy with the structure modelling itself on developing independent learning skills like those seen in universities which allows students to continue their studies in their specialist subject areas. Students are very much encouraged to become mature adults being engaged in many aspects of the life of the academy which further develops those much needed skills to go on into university or the world of work.

'Leaders are committed to developing pupils’ confidence and belief in themselves. The clear message to pupils is that anything is possible if you persevere.' Ofsted 2019
