We are seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated teacher whose main teaching focus in sociology, however, the successful applicant will be able to offer a secondary teaching subject.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team.  You will be an inspirational teacher with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be rigorous in the pursuit of high standards for all students. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential, as is a commitment to students’ personal best. You will be joining a successful school with an outstanding ethos, where staff and students are supported to become the best. As such, you will work with a highly motivated, supportive and well qualified team, and will be given the opportunity to develop personally and professionally.

Our results are a testament to our team – in 2019, our A Level Sociology results were grade 1 in ALPS, with every single student either achieving or exceeding their target grade. Sociology is a high achieving subject and we are always looking at ways to improve still further.

The A Level group is expanding from one class to three classes in Year 12. There are also four classes in Key Stage 4. Sociology is a subject that is expanding rapidly and we are looking for a colleague who can help us develop the subject through inspirational teaching and innovative lesson planning.

Ralph Allen School is a co-educational, non-denominational, over-subscribed academy for students aged 11 to 18 years, situated in the World Heritage city of Bath.  Our ethos is one of achievement through respect, teamwork and personal best.

In 2016 it became a founder member of the Palladian Academy Trust, composed of eight local schools.

Ralph Allen School was named after the Bath mine owner, entrepreneur and philanthropist who helped with the building of Georgian Bath and the early development of the Post Office.

The school was founded in 1957 and became an academy in August 2012. It is celebrating its 60th anniversary during 2017-18.  Following recent exciting campus developments, the school has formulated a comprehensive strategic vision for future campus expansion.

It has great facilities for extra-curricular activities, including an art and photography building and an all-weather sports pitch.

Ofsted report

Ralph Allen achieved a 'Good' when it was last inspected in 2018, with one of those outstanding features being the Sixth Form. Ofsted assessments of the school have never been below 'Good'.
