Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a driven, inspiring and organised teacher to the temporary, full time post of teacher of Spanish. This is to cover the maternity leave of a permanent member of staff. The successful candidate will need to offer Spanish to Key Stage 4 and ideally to A-level.

Woodcote High School is a very successful, heavily over-subscribed, 11-18 High Performing Specialist Comprehensive School (1250 on roll) totally committed to high quality teaching and learning. We place emphasis on student achievement and the professional development of staff.

Ruled “good” by Ofsted in 2015 in all areas; inspectors praised our students as “attentive, hardworking and practically always keen to learn. They get down to work fast and keep going diligently”.

GCSE results are way above average and A level results are improving rapidly. Teachers rate Woodcote as an enjoyable place to work due to the “fabulous students and supportive colleagues”.

This is a terrific opportunity for an innovative teacher to join our forward-looking and successful Spanish Department. In 2016, 93.5% of students achieved A*-C grades in their GCSE Spanish examination. The Modern Languages Department is well resourced and committed to developing its vision whereby all students fulfil their potential.

Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and NQTs.

If you have energy and a passion for Spanish, then we would like to hear from you. Visits are encouraged so please telephone the school or email l.allen@woodcotehigh.com if you would like to arrange an informal visit, before you apply.

You can download all the details and an application form for this post from TES Hire Wire or www.woodcotehigh.com  (click on staff vacancies link at the bottom of the home page). Alternatively, you can telephone or email the school.

Closing date for applications: As soon as possible but no later than Monday 13th March 2017.

Previous applicants need not reapply.

About Woodcote High School

Since opening in 1957, Woodcote High School has constantly evolved and grown, whilst remaining at the forefront of educational developments in the area.

Exam results have for many years exceeded national and local averages, delivering a positive Progress 8 score. Other landmark achievements over recent years include significant building projects, the opening of a Sixth Form at the School, the opening of an international standard athletics facility (Track Coulsdon, in conjunction with South London Harriers and other funding partners) and the establishment of the Enhanced Learning Provisionfor mobility impaired students.

Woodcote is a busy community, with lots to offer our students. We encourage students to develop enquiring minds that in turn increases their enthusiasm for enrichment both in and out of the classroom. Those interested in music and performance deliver great seasonal productions, and benefit from a wide range of individual music tuition. Our world-class Track Coulsdon is at the heart of our great sport and PE facilities, and we have a full range of extra-curricular sport.

In the Sixth Form, in addition to the whole school enrichment programme, students have the opportunity to stand for student leadership positions, take part in charity events and lead assemblies for raising awareness on subjects they are passionate about. We also run a series of events where guest speakers are invited into school to speak to the student body.
