The role:

Oxford High School is looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic part-time teacher of Spanish to join us from September 2025.

The Modern Foreign Language (MFL) faculty promotes the teaching of six foreign languages including Russian, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, French and Spanish. Spanish is taught as an optional subject from Year 8 and we are keen to find a teacher who will motivate our pupils to continue with Spanish in Year 9 and beyond.

You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, who is able to inspire and motivate our students. In addition to this, you will need excellent ICT, communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to build effective working relationships with students and staff.

Spanish at Oxford High School 

The Spanish department is very successful and consistently achieves top results at (I)GCSE and A Level. The students are very keen and motivated and enjoy extra-curricular activities such as clubs, lectures, language days and a residential stay in Andalusia. There are currently 3 Spanish teachers in the department as well as a Spanish assistant, who add an international flavour to the Oxford High staff and are most welcoming and supportive.

About Oxford High School for Girls GDST

Oxford High School is an independent, non-denominational, all-through school for girls without nursery and with sixth form, situated in three sites in Summertown, North Oxford. It is one of 26 members of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust), meaning it is governed by the council and operates according to the trust’s policy. The school provides 906 places for primary, secondary and sixth-form students aged 4-19.

Oxford High School was founded in 1875 and is the oldest girls' school in the city.
