Values and vision

The principal objective of the school is to help all students to achieve their best. Copleston High School cultivates a caring,  warm and vibrant environment for students, designed to help them thrive. The school celebrates student successes in as many ways as possible, including through posters around the school, in achievement assemblies and through “celebration evenings”, which emphasise that Copleston values all students as individuals.

The school aims to enable every student to be as successful academically and socially as possible. It believes that young people should communicate effectively, co-operate in teams, use new technology with confidence, develop research skills, and take responsibility for their own learning. However, it also believes that looking forward should not be at the expense of traditional standards.

Readiness for life beyond school is central to what Copleston offers its students.

Ofsted

“Students who need extra help are given good support. As a result, they are making at least as good progress as other students and the gaps between different groups are closing.”

“Students’ numeracy and literacy skills are developed well through a range of activities. Teaching assistants and support workers contribute well in lessons and make sure that all students understand their tasks.”
