What we are looking for

Would you like to be part of an incredible team of teachers who are passionate about delivering a knowledge-rich curriculum? Do you want to help shape a curriculum that promotes a culture of exceptional academic success and achievement? Would you like to work in a school ranked as the top state comprehensive school in the East Midlands by the Sunday Times for 2022, based on GCSE and A Level results?

Northampton School for Boys is looking for a Teacher of Spanish to share in our ambitious, supportive and aspirational culture. The MFL team at NSB are wholly committed to the significant cultural and academic benefits of studying languages, and team members are actively involved in ongoing curriculum design. GCSE and A Level results for Languages at NSB are well above the national average with cohorts of around 70% studying a language at GCSE. Candidates must have the ability to teach Spanish to A level and ideally French to Key Stage 4. You must be highly motivated with a desire to support students across a range of needs and abilities. We are seeking a teacher who ideally has a proven track record of impact on student progress and attainment and who has experience in delivering languages across a range of key stages. We would equally consider a passionate Early Career Teacher with evidence of strong student progress in teaching posts and placements to date.

Suitably experienced applicants will have the opportunity to apply for a vacant Learning Leader post in the department after appointment. The Learning Leader post in languages carries a remission of 1 additional lesson and salary enhancement to lead the design and implementation of the Key Stage 3 curriculum.

Northampton School for Boys

Northampton School for Boys (NSB) is an 11-18 state funded single sex boys’ school. Girls are admitted to the Sixth Form.  The school has an illustrious heritage; founded in 1541 by Thomas Chipsey in Bridge Street, Northampton it then moved to the present site in 1911.

We ensure that all students who attend the school have the opportunity to maximise their academic potential and their talents and abilities in a vast range of activities inside and outside of the curriculum.  Our academic performance at both GCSE and at A Level is consistently outstanding and our students excel academically in comparison to all other students nationally, both in terms of progress and attainment. In sport, music and dance we compete and perform successfully at national and international level.  Recent successes include reaching the national U18 schools rugby final, winning the national U13 football cup, receiving an invitation for our Big Band to perform at the National Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall and a world age-group title for one of our dance teams.

Our school motto is ‘a tradition of excellence’ which was recognised in our recent full Ofsted inspection in November 2014 where we were graded as outstanding in every category, inclusive of the Sixth Form.

Our educational provision is supported by state of the art facilities for learning, sport, music, drama and dance.  This year our Science laboratories have been refurbished to provide much greater space for students and to house cutting edge equipment and we also opened in a £4.9 million Human Performance Centre, featuring a 25m length swimming pool and dance studio, in December 2014.

NSB is a Teaching School and as part of this aspect of the school’s provision there are outstanding professional development opportunities available to all teachers in the school.

The student body, the facilities and the warm, supportive environment make NSB a fantastic school in which to either start or to develop a successful teaching career.
