Job overview

International School Michel Lucius seeks a qualified Teacher of Special Educational Needs and Inclusion to contribute to our dynamic and rapidly growing primary school from September 2021 onwards. Early applications before the closing date are encouraged.

The School

International School Michel Lucius is a state-funded primary and secondary school, located in the heart of Luxembourg’s capital. Lycée Michel Lucius has been providing a high quality education to secondary-school aged students for fifty years. In response to Luxembourg’s fast evolving, highly cosmopolitan and international population, Lycée Michel Lucius created an English language international stream in 2011 which has since grown into a diverse and high quality International School that serves approximately 1000 students, representing more than 70 nationalities. The new International School is an integral part of Lycée Michel Lucius, an inclusive and flourishing learning and teaching community of 1800 students and more than 150 members of teaching staff.

In September 2017, ISML Primary, an accredited Cambridge International school, opened its doors to a highly diverse and rapidly growing pupil population.

The Role

In response to a rapidly growing international student population, International School Lycée Michel Lucius is continuing to expand and seeks to appoint qualified and dynamic classroom practitioners.

We are looking for a well-qualified SEN specialist with a proven record of teaching children with SEN and with extensive experience working in inclusive school environments. The successful candidate will be expected to implement and contribute to the development of SEN procedures in collaboration with the school management and learning support staff. The SEN specialist will have the opportunity to support class teachers with creating inclusive classrooms where SEN pupils can flourish. Additionally, the SEN teacher will work with learners on an individual basis or in small groups, as required. As an international school, spanning both primary and secondary education, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in the secondary school and to contribute to valuable transition work.

This multifaceted and exciting position requires a flexible and innovative professional who would like to work in a school that puts the learner at the centre.

Teachers at the International School Michel Lucius have excellent subject knowledge and are expected to work collaboratively, to reflect upon their own practice and to contribute to the ethos and vision of the school. In addition to key teaching responsibilities, staff have a pastoral role, giving them the opportunity to foster students’ holistic development and to play an integral part in the school community.

As a dynamic and innovative school we pride ourselves on acting in the interest of our students and supporting our teachers in the pursuit of their professional goals.

All teaching within the international school is undertaken in English. However, the successful candidate must have certified evidence of CEFR B2-level competence in one of Luxembourg’s administrative languages (i.e., French, German or Luxembourgish). Evidence of a B2 level must be provided when signing the contract. Language competence can be assessed as part of the recruitment process.  In addition, all applicants must have a valid teaching qualification from a member state of the EU or the EEA and have 5 years of teaching experience.

What we offer

The International School Michel Lucius offers motivated teachers a supportive and innovative teaching environment, allowing them to follow their passion for education. The school actively encourages and supports teachers’ continued professional development initiatives.

Teachers have a balanced timetable, providing them with ample time for preparation and administrative duties alongside teaching their allocated lessons.

As government employees, teachers benefit from a generous salary, including health, pension, unemployment and disability insurance.

How to apply

All applicants should apply via TES and upload a CV, a covering letter, and the names and contact details of two professional referees. One of these should be your current employer.
