Star International School Mirdif is a bespoke British Curriculum School situated in the Mirdif Community of Dubai offering EYFS, Primary and Secondary Education. We are looking to appoint a Teacher of STEAM/DT who has the enthusiasm, commitment and energy needed to work in a rapidly growing and improving school. The role would be from September 2021


About The Post

Due to the rapid development of technology within the school, and a desire to create a uniquely Star curriculum, we require a teacher of STEAM to join our family at Star International School Mirdif. The role would involve teaching classes from KS2 up to KS3.

This is a role for a creative and innovative educator passionate about developing a unique custom curriculum. Knowledge of iterative design processes and resistant materials is required. Experience of utilising robotics, and coding/CS up to KS3 is also desirable. 

This role could also be suitable for a Computer Science/Science teacher willing to adapt to a hands-on STEAM curriculum

This individual would support the school in developing a STEAM/Makerspace which can be utilised by students from KS2 up to KS3 for a hands-on innovative learning experience. This will be a 2-3 year project for the right candidate to build something truly awe-inspiring within the heart of our school.


Alongside the day to day responsibilities of being a full-time classroom teacher you would be required to:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant teaching qualification: minimum of a BEd or BA/BSc + PGCE/QTS
  • Excellent working knowledge of the latest UK practice and the new National Curriculum of England 
  • Design and Technology or Computer Science specialism
  • Experience of resistant materials or hands-on crafting alongside robotics
  • Experience of teaching in a British school either internationally or the UK
  • Familiarity with the national curriculum for England
  • Availability to start September 2021


Desirable

  • 2 year =teaching experience - However, strong NQTs will be considered
  • Experience of coding to KS3 level
  • Ability to deliver DT up to KS3/KS4 level in the future
  • Prior experience of working across both Primary and Secondary phases

Contracts are for two years in the first instance and include:
