Job overview

Teacher of Technology (Food and Nutrition)

MPS/UPS

For September 2018

The School

Kenilworth School and Sixth Form is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted (2013) and as the only secondary school in the community of Kenilworth, is oversubscribed with motivated and well behaved pupils.

We are currently a split site, with Years 7 – 11 based at Leyes Lane and Sixth Form set on our Rouncil Lane site.  A new build school, combining years 7-13, is in the planning phase and will be open from September 2021. The school is well resourced to support the delivery of the subject which includes external site visits. The post holder will join a supportive team with opportunities for professional development.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of Technology – Food and Nutrition to join a busy and thriving department of seven teachers. The successful applicant should be aspirational, creative, innovative and have a genuine engaging enthusiasm for the teaching and learning of technology. The department is well supported with a team of Technology Technicians. A willingness to teach additional subjects within the department would be advantageous, to include Health and Social Care.

As a Teacher of Technology, you should be able to teach Food and Nutrition across all ability ranges at Key Stages 3 and 4.

We would welcome applications from NQTs or experienced teachers.

Why would you join Kenilworth School & Sixth Form?

We have just moved into a brand new purpose build site with state of the art facilities, the school was recently ranked as the fourth best comprehensive school in the West Midlands in the Times Best Schools 2024, our Ofsted inspection in November 2023, accredited the school with an Outstanding grading in every category, stating, 'the school is a centre of excellence' and our Progress 8 score for 2023 puts us in the highest category.  This underpins the commitment and values that our staff strive hard to achieve and exceed for our students.

However, above all of this is the sense of pride the whole community has for the school, and the focus upon staff and student well-being. This is reflected in the far reaching enthusiasm of our students to support  local and national charities and rise to challenges at sporting and academic events around the country.

As a staff member you would benefit from our employee assistance programme- physiotherapy, 24/7 GP and mental health support, retail and gym discounts, free flu vaccination, free on-site gym, a laptop, free electric car charging.

This is not an exhaustive list, but just a few reasons to be a proud member of this school and community.

Before you do apply, please take a moment to look around our website, www.ksn.org.uk, where you can gain an insight into our students’ activities and achievements.

Thank you

Darren Nicholas
Headteacher
