TEACHER OF CONSTRUCTION / DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (0.4 fte) (£22,917 – £38,633 pro rata) or UNQUALIFIED TEACHER / INSTRUCTOR (£16,626 - £26,295 pro rata) 

Required for September 2018, Teacher of Construction / Design & Technology to deliver BTEC Level 2 Construction and KS3 Design and Technology.  The post could be suitable for qualified teachers, or someone with specialist skills and industry experience, but no teaching qualifications.  Support will be provided to develop as a teacher.   

This post is advertised as a part time position (0.4 FTE). This is equivalent to 2 full days per week during term time, but it may be possible to organise this as part days if preferred.  Equally, if you are looking for full-time employment, please make an application. We will explore your other skills that could be useful to us as a technician or as a teacher of other subjects.

Summerhill School is a mainstream, co-educational, non-denominational, community secondary school for children aged 11-16. It is situated in Kingswinford, outside Dudley in the West Midlands, and there are 1,010 students on its roll.

We are a community school. We have wonderful children, caring and supportive parents and a great team of staff. We have modern, well-equipped facilities and are located within beautiful countryside. We’ve faced some challenges over the last few years, but this is a school that’s improving rapidly in every way. We were visited in April 2019 by an Ofsted inspection team and we’re very pleased that they recognised our improvements and rated us as Good in every category. Since then, our exam results have improved further. Members of our school community can be genuinely proud to be part of Summerhill.

Summerhill students achieve superb examination results. Our attainment levels have been well above the national average for many years. We are eagerly waiting publication of 2019 national results which we expect to confirm that Summerhill’s progress levels are also now significantly higher than other schools (locally and nationally).
