The successful candidate will be teaching and supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs.

Coxlease School is an independent specialist day school, located near Lyndhurst, Hampshire - a beautiful setting in the heart of the New Forest.

We are proud of our excellent reputation for providing highly effective education, care, therapy, welfare and support for up to 107 pupils aged 5 to 19 years old who have difficulties regulating their emotional, social and mental health needs. They may also have other complex needs often associated with autistic spectrum conditions.

We take an individual and inclusive approach to education, care, therapy and healthcare in order to provide our young people with the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives, develop as lifelong learners and integrate into the wider community.

We are looking for an empathetic and creative teacher/instructor to support pupils who need additional support to develop academically, socially and emotionally. 

Indeed, we believe that all pupils have the potential to flourish and thrive, and this role will require an imaginative individual who is capable of unearthing teaching and learning strategies that will engage and spark the interests of pupils who are struggling to access the standard curriculum.   

As such, this exciting new role will involve leading and implementing bespoke programmes of study for pupils in 1:1 or very small groups to access both the academic and enrichment curriculum both in school and the wider community. This will include the following responsibilities:

• Create imaginative and bespoke curriculum packages for pupils who are having difficulties with the standard curriculum. 
• Provide academic tuition across a broad range of subject areas, using creative ways to make learning accessible and meaningful.
• Through new and exciting enrichment trips and opportunities, foster the social and emotional development of pupils by exposing them to new and meaningful experiences.
• Implement a wide range of teaching and learning strategies to re-engage learners.
• To work in liaison with the wider teaching, pastoral and therapy team to build holistic interventions, both in and out of school, that will encourage improvements in both attendance and engagement. 
• Create learning opportunities in the community that improve the life experiences and capital culture of our pupils. 
• To offer short, medium and long term qualification opportunities that celebrate the talents of pupils. 
• To contribute to the Annual Review and PEP process, ensuring that the needs of pupils, as outlined in their EHCPs, are being met. 
• Support with transition process between our internal provisions and with external bodies/partners. 

Required:

• A full UK driving license

Preferential:

• Experience of working with pupils with SEN, in particular those with behaviours that challenge
• To have had experience of leading and delivering to small groups, evidencing excellent progress
• Experience or desire to work with all relevant Key stages.

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs.  Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer.  If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital
