Job overview

Due to a recent resignation we have a full time, permanent vacancy for an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to join our dedicated and supportive staff team.  We aim to appoint someone who, like our current teachers, is passionate about special education and has high expectations of themselves and the pupils they teach.    The leadership team and governors are committed to raising pupil attainment and supporting outstanding practice.  We continue to be a Good School – Ofsted November 2017 who are “successfully driving further improvements” and “dedicated to our pupils, their families and our staff”.  The school ethos “Valued for being Me” does mean everyone!  We are a caring, friendly and supportive team.    This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a qualified teacher with a passion for teaching young people with special needs whose background evidences this commitment and enthusiasm.    We strongly encourage you to visit our school prior to your application. You will receive a warm welcome and the chance of meeting our wonderful pupils and staff.   Rachel Madocks School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Rachel Madocks is a very popular Special School for children aged 2.5 – 19 years and is reflected by our current number of roll of 91. Our friendly teaching and support staff team works hard to ensure that the school continues to improve, building on the positive OFSTED report of November 2017 which confirmed we continue to be a Good school.

Our school has recently benefitted from refurbishment, extension and extensive rebuilding work, modernising all areas of the school. We also have a large sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. This is complemented by modern teaching aids including the latest IT. Carefully focused staff training and development ensures an excellent professional staff team.

At Rachel Madocks School we aspire to be efficient and effective, delivering an exceptional education, enabling our pupils and students to strive to attain their potential and maximise their life opportunities. Our overarching aim is to be an outstanding school to which all pupils, students, parents, carers, staff and governors are proud to belong and where they feel “Valued for Being Me”.
