The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. We are three special schools, a secure unit, a large countywide alternative provision, a vocational free school and one of five teaching schools within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

Cuckmere House School, based in Seaford, is an ‘Outstanding’ all-boys school, that makes provision for pupils with a social, emotional and mental health needs; we currently provide provision for pupils on our main school site, our Tower House site and Lansdowne School, a secure Children’s Home in Hailsham.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic PE Teacher, starting from September 2021, who is committed to achieving excellence and ensuring every child succeeds. Ideally, you will be able to offer an additional subject to enhance our curriculum offer. You will be a positively minded person who is passionate about your subject and tenacious in your drive to secure the best possible outcomes for our pupil.

While previous experience of working within Special Education is welcome, it is not an essential requirement for this post. You should be able to demonstrate an approach to curriculum delivery that is exciting and innovative while also being sensitive to the needs of our pupils; differentiation will be a strength of your practice.

We have a strong commitment to building positive relations with our pupils and high quality pastoral support is a strong feature of our practice. All school staff have a pastoral role and as a full time teacher, you will have responsibility for a tutor group. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the interventions that may benefit pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs and a willingness to develop your knowledge regarding improved educational engagement further.

The successful candidate will be joining a Trust and school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our pupils. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team and be part of a supportive working and learning environment, where your professional development is highly valued.

We strongly encourage you to visit our school and if you would like to see us prior to submitting an application please contact Fiona Shields to arrange a visit.  Alternatively, if you wish to have an informal discussion with Lorraine Myles, Principal, this can also be arranged.  Please contact us on 01323 893319 or by email on office.ch@sabden.org.uk
