Teacher Primary

To cover a maternity leave starting 28 November for up to one year, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Class Teacher. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

St Mungo Primary is a two teacher school set in a beautiful location just outside Lockerbie. In January 2014 it was partnered with Tundergarth and Hightae Primaries. There is a strong sense of community within and across the schools and staff work in a very supportive and collaborative way throughout the partnership.

At St Mungo we aim to educate our pupils within a nurturing, caring and safe environment where progression and development are key to ensure the pupils achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be a dedicated teacher who has high expectations and can deliver exciting and engaging lessons to the children, ensuring progression throughout, and should demonstrate a high level of commitment to all aspects of school life.

As a class teacher you will provide effective learning and teaching and carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Head Teacher.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
