Job overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to join our community. Working together with our great staff team you will inspire our Year 1 children and contribute to our development as a school. Our community is built on enthusiastic learners, committed staff, supportive parents and governors. In December 2017 we were judged Good by OFSTED, with Outstanding for Personal development, behaviour and welfare. Ditchling (St Margaret's) C.E. Primary and Nursery School is a village primary with 207 children on roll, aged 2 - 11 years, currently organised across 6 classes plus nursery. From September 2022, we are aiming to separate our EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 children for their morning learning; this means we can offer really targeted support to meet the children’s needs, whilst still giving the benefits of working in a mixed-age class in the afternoon. We would be looking for our Year 1 teacher to work 4 mornings a week 8:30am-12 noon (0.43 FTE).

Please visit our website to find out more about us: Ditchling (St Margaret’s) CE Primary and Nursery School – Learning together. Building success. (ditchlingprimary.co.uk).

This is an exciting time to join our school as we have recently become an academy joining the Hurst Education Trust. As members of the Trust our children have access to the considerable facilities of Hurst College and our staff have access to a wide range of CPD opportunities with the College. We are developing strong, collaborative links with the other Trust schools.

 The successful candidate will:

• Have experience and good knowledge of teaching phonics in KS1

• Have excellent interpersonal skills and be a teamplayer

• Have the energy and creativity to make learning experiences engaging

• Have high aspirations for themselves and the children

• Have the ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing

• Have good organisational, planning and follow-through skills

• Enjoy the privilege of working with, and supporting, children’s learning, whatever their needs

• Be highly motivated and keen to learn

• Be willing to work hard as part of a team, demonstrating a commitment to working in partnership with parents

• Is committed to support our Christian ethos, vison and values

 We can offer:

• children that are enthusiastic and eager to learn

• a strong, supportive and committed staff team

• engaged parents and a thriving village community

• a happy workplace with friendly, supportive colleagues

Visits to the School are warmly welcomed and highly recommended. If you would like to see the School or discuss the post prior to application, then please contact the school on 01273 844130.

Closing date: Friday 1st July 2022 (12 noon)

Interview date:  Wednesday 6th July 2022

Hurst Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The Hurst Education Trust (HET) is a newly formed Multi-Academy Trust set up by Hurstpierpoint College in collaboration with the Diocese of Chichester. It exists to provide a unique offer to local schools in the Mid Sussex area.

Academic excellence is the foundation of a Hurst education, because we believe it opens doors to the future. Therefore, every child is challenged and supported along the way in our friendly and warm community.

We are ambitious for each of our pupils and who they can become. Each child has the opportunity to access all the schools have to offer, together with additional facilities and resources at the College, and we encourage each one to engage and enjoy all aspects of school life.

We want our pupils to learn the importance of certain values: a sense of duty, an awareness of right and wrong and a respect for others. We want pupils to be ambitious with a clear sense of purpose, to acquire a balanced view of life and develop into independent, mature individuals.

Schools who are part of the Hurst Education Trust receive:

· A high quality education support package focused on the “Good to Outstanding” journey.

· A comprehensive administrative provision, including but not limited to: Human Resources, Payroll, Finance Support, Health & Safety advice, Data Protection Service and IT Support.

· Access to the College’s facilities, including sports and academic provision together with specialist facilities including the theatre, the farm and the chapel.

· A substantial CPD package for teaching and support staff.

Importantly, schools retain their individuality, including their name, uniform and curriculum. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach.
