Job Title:       Teacher x 2 (Maths Specialist & Art & Design Specialist)

Location:       The Shires - Oakham, LE15 6JB 

Salary:         £36,500 per annum

Hours:         37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Contract:             Permanent, Term Time Only 

Due to growth in service we are looking for Teachers who have an understanding of and desire to work with children and young people with Autism to help break down barriers to learning and ensure a smooth transition into adulthood when they leave The Shires.

The advertised role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing service and have ownership of curriculum development with the aim of meeting the needs of a wide range of pupils. We are looking for passionate, committed, and dedicated teachers who are inspired to make learning fun and engaging for pupils who have a range of educational experiences.

This is a great opportunity for Teachers who wants to spend less time on paperwork and more time developing creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs. Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure and you will be working in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected and involved in as many decisions as possible.

Quality is always top of our agenda and we pride ourselves on the quality of what we do. We are looking for Teachers with experience of delivering a range of accreditation from Functional Skills to GCSE and potentially A Level.

Educated to GCSE C/5 Grade English and Maths, Degree Holder and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status (QTLS). You will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative style of teaching, motivated by helping every child to reach their potential. We are looking for teachers who have experience of delivering a range of accreditation from Functional Skills to GCSE and potentially A Level.

Whilst previous experience of working in an SEN/ASC environment would be desirable, excellent teaching skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important.

About us

The Shires at Stretton and The Shires at Oakham are two Independent Special Schools that cater for children and young people 11-19 with Autism, learning disabilities and other associated needs.

The Shires at Stretton provides education alongside 24-hour residential care, pupils living and learning on the same site. Pupils that attend The Shires at Stretton have Autism and SLD and are taught in small class groups (4/5 pupils), all pupils having at least 1:1 support. The Shires at Oakham is a day only school providing education for pupils with Autism and SLD/MLD. Pupils are taught in small class groups (4/5 pupils), all pupils having at least 1:1 support.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to children, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
