We are seeking a passionate, highly motivated and ambitious teacher to take on the role of 2i.c. in our rapidly improving Science team. If you are a dedicated, motivated and determined individual looking for an opportunity to make your mark in a large and supportive department with huge potential, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join our journey to success.

The sciences are popular at GCSE and A level. 30% of GCSE students choose triple science and all 3 sciences achieved 80%+ 9-5, and 27%+ 9-7 in 2018. Combined science results in 2018 showed a significant improvement with 53% of pupils achieving 9-4 in the new combined science qualification compared to only 20% of the Science Core and Additional cohort the previous year achieving A*-C. A-level results were also strong in 2018 with 80% A*-C in Biology, and 100% A*-A in Physics. There is room for further improvement in both GCSE and A-level and the successful applicant would be heavily involved in delivering both.

This is an exciting time to join Bacon’s College as we rapidly improve. If you share our high expectations and are passionate about making a difference then we look forward to receiving your application.

Bacon’s College was established in the Surrey Docks peninsula, South East London in 1991 as a City Technology College and joined the United Learning Trust in 2018. Bacon’s has long been an important part of the fabric of the local community in South East London. We are proud of that history and of the way the College has evolved and adapted to meet the needs of its young people.

Bacon’s is a thriving community that is welcoming of students of all faiths and those of none. Staff and students value the distinctive nature of its Christian ethos to which every member of its community contributes. The school is well disciplined and calm and we pride ourselves on the harmonious relationships that exist in the school.

Today, Bacon’s sits in modern and well-equipped facilities in an area that is rapidly changing and growing. Learning is at the heart of everything we do and we have the highest aspirations for our students, determined that they can achieve and overcome any barriers that may lie in their path. A significant proportion of our students go on to university each year and a culture of aspiration and achievement is evident.

Bacon’s is on a rapid improvement journey and we have seen significant gains in our results over the last two years. There is still more to be done to raise the outcomes for our young people and we hope you will join us in making Bacon’s College a ‘great’ school once again.

United Learning

Bacon’s College joined United Learning as a new academy in Spring 2018. A large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

Bacon’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the school to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
