Position Information 

Katoomba High School is a comprehensive high school catering for 970 students from the Upper Blue Mountains. The school offers a broad curriculum focusing on high expectations of student academic achievement and encouraging excellence in whole school activities. 8% of students identify as Aboriginal and connections with our Aboriginal community are highly valued. The school is committed to excellent teaching and learning programs and supportive wellbeing practices to meet the needs of its diverse student population. The school has a large support unit and aims to provide an inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with emotional disturbance and behavioural difficulties.

Demonstrated ability to be an enthusiastic, proactive teacher with the capacity to engage students with challenging behaviours. 

Capacity to implement the Department's Aboriginal education policies to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal students.

Capacity to work collegially as part of a dynamic faculty and experience in contributing to whole school projects and initiatives.

Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
