Position Information 

Kingsgrove Public School is a comprehensive primary school located in south west Sydney with a current enrolment of over 400 students. Our school community is culturally and linguistically diverse with 75% of students coming from a language background other than English. Set within spacious grounds, our school is located across two campuses and features a K-2 and 3-6 setting. Our school has a support unit with four classes across both campuses and supports students with Autism and/or moderate intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties.

Through the provision of quality learning experiences which promote engaging, innovative and critical and creative thinking, we are preparing our students to be active and informed citizens of the future.

We are committed to ensuring every student in known, valued and cared for through our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program and the implementation of comprehensive wellbeing practices. Students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of extra-curricular programs such as: choir, dance, school band, public speaking, debating and various sporting activities including PSSA. The school is supported by a proactive P&C who are working with the school to enhance parent engagement.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

 

  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students K-6 with Autism and/or moderate intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and teach quality and highly differentiated programs and develop Personalised Learning and Support Plans for students with a wide range of individual learning needs within a culture of high expectations for all students.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the capacity to establish and maintain effective and proactive partnerships with students, staff, parents, external agencies and the wider school community.
  • Capacity to create engaging and positive learning environments through the implementation of effective classroom management and student wellbeing programs.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
