Position Information 

Mannering Park Public School is situated at the northern end of the Central Coast. The school is on Darkinjung and Awabakal traditional land and serves a small township located on Lake Macquarie. Mannering Park Public School has 204 students enrolled from K–6 and has a dedicated staff who ensure every student is known, valued and cared for. The school has 9 mainstream, multi-stage classes and 1 Support Class that caters for students with Emotional Disturbance. The school receives School Based Allocation Resources (SBAR) funding for Aboriginal Education, socio–economic backgrounds, integration and low-level adjustment for disability and support, initiative funding for beginning teachers and Early Action for Success. The school's  Aboriginal student population is 17% and  has strong links with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). A permanent Aboriginal SLSO is appointed to the school to enhance the culture and connectedness of the school community. The school fosters improvement in teaching and learning through stage-based Professional Learning Communities which are led by Assistant Principals and an Instructional Leader. There is a relentless focus on improvement in Literacy, numeracy, differentiated programming, assessment and wellbeing. In 2020, staff members engaged in professional learning that looked at enhancing the whole-school approach to wellbeing. The school is striving to re-energise its Positive Behaviour for Learning, Peer Support implementation and student leadership initiatives.Staff at Mannering Park Public School support environmental education, public speaking, breakfast club, debating, maths Olympiad, social skills programs and various sporting and cultural events. The school's Learning and Support Team proactively supports students and families through robust, individual learning plans that reaches over 43% of students.The P&C are actively involved in the school and run the uniform shop and canteen. 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach special education, and/or experience teaching students with academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to establish and maintain effective partnerships with students, parents, community, supporting agencies and colleagues to achieve improved outcomes for students.

Excellent classroom management and demonstrated ability to establish a positive learning environment with a proven capacity to develop, implement and evaluate quality individual learning and behaviour support plans. 

Commitment to advocate for the equitable inclusion of students with additional needs in the wider school community and to contribute to a positive school culture.
