Position Information 

Tallowood School is committed to each student achieving maximum independence and engagement for their post school life in their communication abilities, emotional wellbeing and respect for self and others.

Tallowood School is a Public Private Partnership School for Specific Purposes (SSP) located in Kellyville. The school enrols students from Kindergarten to Year 12. with disabilities from Kindergarten to Year 12.  The current enrolment is 98 students. All students have a moderate or severe intellectual disability, and many students have additional disabilities including physical and sensory disabilities, Autism, challenging behaviours, and complex health care needs.  

The school population is drawn from several local council areas. The purpose-built school, opened in 2004, has a range of quality facilities. It provides a safe, attractive, and caring environment for all students.

Every students has a Personalised Learning Support Plan (PLSP), written in consulatation with families and carers, that identify each student's specific learning priorities. Our skilled staff use a holistic approach to differentiate learning to meet the individual needs of our students. 

Our school offers a range of innovative programs including Work Experience, Hydrotherapy, Riding for the Disabled (RDA), Sailability, Tuckshop, Kids Cafe, Tallowood Garden, Music Engagement, Library and Community Access.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities including physical disabilities, Autism, sensory needs, or challenging behaviours.

2. Ability to design and deliver differentiated learning and positive support programs to engage students with special needs.

3. Capacity to develop dynamic and responsive Personalised Learning Support Plans, Health Care Plans and Behaviour Support Plans within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

4. Demonstrated ability to use a range of assessment tools and data that informs and evaluates effective programming  and teaching practice to improve student outcomes.

5. Ability to work in partnership with staff, families, students, and other key stakeholders to prioritise and deliver learning programs for achievement of student outcomes.

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
