Teacher - Support for Learning

Boghall Primary School is a non-denominational school serving the community of Bathgate, West Lothian. The school has a wide ranging catchment area and links closely with Boghall Community Wing which is attached. The school accommodates 12 mainstream primary classes and a Nursery. Literacy Services within Boghall Primary School supports pupils, primary and secondary from across the authority with specific difficulties dyslexia and associated phonological difficulties. The school is currently staffed by a Head Teacher, a Depute Head Teacher, a Principal Teacher, and 16 teaching staff, 1 EYO, 3 Nursery Nurses, 8 Pupil Support Workers and an Administrative Assistant.

The school has a P1-7 roll of 300 pupils. The School is piloting 1140 hours in the Nursery with 25 children coming in 2 full days.

The school provides extensive support to parents and families to ensure children’s social, emotional and wellbeing needs are being met as well as addressing the ‘closing the gap’ agenda. The school aims to support all pupils through appropriate learning interventions to meet their needs.

The school works very closely in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community and it has a very active and effective Parent Council that helps to enhance the experiences of the children and raise funds for a range of additional resources.

A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.

From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
