Job overview

Leeds City College is one of the UK’s largest FE establishments with around 1200 employees and over 35,000 students. Offering a diverse curriculum within a vibrant and multicultural learning environment, our goal is to deliver excellent and innovative education which supports and inspires every student to achieve their ambitions.

The Media and Performance Production department has 450 learners split across 2 campuses.  At the heart of much of the production work in the Park Lane Campus is the Technical Theatre course.  This numbers 20 to 30 students across 2 year groups who are studying for the BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Production Arts.  These learners study Lighting, Sound, Video Projection, Stage Management, Props, Theatre Design and Event Management.  They then apply the skills in support of the 20 performance projects created in the department every year.

We are looking for an innovative, passionate and experienced Theatre Technician who can both deliver the Lighting, Stage Management and Theatre design elements as well as giving the learners a strong understanding of what working in the industry is like.  They will work as a Production Manager during projects support and guiding teams of learners in both internal and external projects.   Experience of delivering BTEC would be an advantage as would an understanding of the pastoral needs of FE students.

With a brand new theatre currently under construction this is an amazing opportunity to shape the future theatre workforce in a modern, flexible and creative environment.
