Vacancies exist for fully qualified Primary Teacher at St Xavier’s Primary School, Gunnedah. The position commence on 29 January 2019   and concludes on 20 December 2019.

Essential criteria for each position:

▪ Teaching qualifications meeting the standard for accreditation with NESA;

▪ Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the Catholic faith and mission of the school;

▪ Demonstrate a high standard of competency and proficiency in classroom practice and student management;

▪ Possess effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a team member of the school and parish community;

▪ Hold appropriate Religious Education qualifications (or willingness to obtain);

▪ Ability to teach Religious Education;

▪ Capacity to teach in flexible learning environments;

▪ An understanding of the importance of a collaborative approach to teaching;

▪ Working With Children Check Clearance.

St Xavier's Primary School is a co-educational, Catholic school situated in the heart of Gunnedah. The school caters to students between the age 5-12 with a current enrolment of 360 students.

Founded in 1879, St Xavier's continues the tradition established by the Sisters of Mercy of creating a safe and nurturing environment in which students can thrive.

The school's classrooms are fitted with a range of modern learning technologies. Every classroom is equipped with an interactive white board, and students have access to the use of Chromebooks, laptops and iPads. Other facilities include St Xavier's all weather access Multipurpose Hall, where students have the opportunity to get involved in a range of sports and activities such as netball, volleyball, basketball, dance and gymnastics.

Curriculum

The school has had a particular focus on sport in recent years with students showcasing their sporting skills at State and National carnivals. Creative and practical arts, Mathematics, English, Science and Information Technology also remain core curriculum subjects. The school also employs assistance staff to aid students requiring additional learning support. Religious practice is a large part school life as well, with Parish Priests working closely with teachers and parents to ensure the students receive comprehensive religious education.
