Position Information 

Brewarrina Central School is located 800kms north west of Sydney and caters for 160 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Ninety seven per cent of students identify as Aboriginal. The students come from the township of Brewarrina and outlying villages of Gongolgon and Weilmoringle. At Brewarrina Central School every student is known, valued and cared for.

There is a strong focus on school/community partnerships supported by the Connected Communities Strategy, SRG (School Reference Group) and AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group). Brewarrina Central School is well supported by its families and the wider community.

The school has excellent facilities, which include well–maintained classrooms in pleasant, green surroundings. The school has recently installed a contemporary Yarning Circle and Remembrance Area to acknowledge our community history & culture. Brewarrina Central School supports students and families to ensure they are ready and equipped for school. It provides a wide range of opportunities for students both within and beyond the classroom.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

Approval to teach  Visual Arts and English 7-12, and a willingness to teach Industrial Technology Mandatory.

Demonstrated capacity to design and implement high quality teaching and learning programs and assessments which engage and support students with diverse learning needs

Demonstrated implementation of effective literacy practices and the ability to deliver differentiated teaching programs with a focus on student growth and HSC performance

Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills demonstrating a proven ability to work collaboratively within the school as an effective team member and contribute to whole school initiatives.

 

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work, including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
