Smart Teachers is recruiting for a Teaching & Learning Assistant to work with autistic post 16 students in West London. This full time Teaching & Learning Assistant role is for a September 2020 start and will be on a long-term temporary contract for the rest of the academic year. The children at this school are aged between 16 and 19 and are all on the autistic spectrum. The role is to work either 1:1, supporting in a small group environment, or assisting the class teacher directly. 

The role

• Teaching & Learning Assistant to support students with autism

• Working with post 16 aged students

• Either 1:1 supporting a specific child, or working within small groups

• General in-class support also involved

• Prior experience supporting students with autism is essential

• School hours are 8:45am to 4pm (with one later finish around 5pm) 

• Long term temporary contract 

• Daily rate of pay between £70 and £75 per day experience dependent  

The school

This is an SEN school catering for students with autism. The children are aged between 3 and 19, and they have several different sites that the children work from. This site caters for post 16 students and is easily accessible by a multitude of public transport means, as well as having parking on site. The learning at this site is focused on life skills and core subjects. They do have specialist subject teachers, and facilities include a large and well-equipped kitchen for Food Tech, as well as a dance and drama studio, amongst other small classrooms for more focused learning. 

Requirements

To be considered for the Teaching & Learning Assistant position, you will require:

• Experience working with children or adults with special needs 

• Have strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills

• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

• Overseas trained applicants are welcome to apply 

• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
