Teaching Assistant in a Year 6 class.

This job description is a non-exhaustive guide of the type of duties that you will be expected to undertake as a teaching assistant. Your main duties are as follows:

1.1.1 supporting pupils in undertaking literacy, numeracy and other learning tasks;

1.1.2 preparing the classroom for lessons and displaying work;

1.1.3 assessing recording and reporting on the development progress and attainment of pupils;

1.1.4 promoting the general progress and well being of individual pupils assigned to you;

1.1.5 providing guidance and advice to pupils on educational and social matters and making relevant records and reports;

1.1.6 providing and directing individual pupils assigned to you with emotional support as needed from time to time;

1.1.7 making records and reports on the personal and social needs of the pupils;

1.1.8 participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above;

1.1.9 instructing such pupils as are entrusted to you in the principles of Christianity and supporting the Roman Catholic ethos of the school;

1.1.12 adhering to the Department of Education Professional Standards for Teaching Assistants which define the minimum level of practice expected.
