The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust provides specialised education to young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). We are three special schools, a secure unit, a large countywide alternative provision, a vocational free school and one of five teaching schools within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

New Horizons, based in St Leonards on Sea, as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, is an 'Outstanding' SEMH Special school and we are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (including Midday Supervisor Responsibilities) into our expanding team across our Primary and Secondary departments. We are passionate about creating a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters respect for others, develops resilience, promotes high expectations and prepares pupils for successful futures.

The main responsibility of the post will be to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum, both by directly working with pupils and assisting in preparation of resources.  Applicants should be innovative, enthusiastic and flexible and have an interest and knowledge of child development and an understanding of child protection procedures.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate a sensitive and empathic approach to working with young pupils. A proven ability with challenging students and a resilient attitude are essential.

The successful candidate will be joining a school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our pupils. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team and be part of a supportive working and learning environment where your professional development is highly valued.

You will be required to work Monday – Friday.  We are a friendly and supportive team, with additional benefits, such as free daily lunch.
