Would you like to be a part of supporting an exciting new resource for young people with autism?  Cuckmere House School is an 'Outstanding' school, as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, who is developing a satellite provision (Tower House) for up to sixteen students in Key Stages 2&3 who have a diagnosis of autism.  We are looking for a TA3 to join us at this exciting phase and help shape the vision and support we offer.

The main responsibility of the post will be to assist in the planning and implementation of activity/behaviour programmes for students and to assist in the planning and implementation of interventions to support individual needs related to students’ social, emotional, cognitive or self-regulation needs, both by directly working with pupils (1-2-1 with targeted individuals and in small groups) and assisting in preparation of resources. The ideal candidate will be empathetic in their interactions with students, and able to act as a positive role model and mentor to both students and other members of staff in the department.

Other qualities required will include being able to work collaboratively as part of a team and build good relationships with students and colleagues, both at Tower House and the wider school community at Cuckmere House.  Our young people have social, emotional and mental health needs and therefore resilience and a good sense of humour are also beneficial.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with young people who have complex needs, including autism and social, emotional and mental health needs.  A recognised Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification to Level 2/3 would also be beneficial. A willingness to develop knowledge and skills through comprehensive training opportunities is essential.

The post is to start from September 2020, but for the right candidate we may be able to negotiate an earlier start date.

If successful, you will become part of a very committed and hardworking team. While some experience of working with vulnerable young people is preferable it is not essential and appropriate training can be provided for the right candidate.  The hours of work are expected to be Monday – Friday from 8.30am –3.30pm (with an earlier finish on Fridays).

We offer a friendly and supportive team, and additional benefits such as free daily lunch.  If you have further questions or would like an informal discussion before submitting an application, please contact Rhian Smith, ASC Senior Teacher, at rhian.smith@sabden.org.uk
