We are looking for extraordinary, highly skilled teaching assistants to deliver support to our SEND pupils at our small independent school in Brent. Working with subject teachers, you will provide our pupils with targeted help to ensure that they get the very most from their lessons, as well as developing relationships as a trusted key worker.

About Us

Edith Kay is a small, but growing, independent special needs school. We are passionate about providing the very best education for our students, aged 14 to 19 who have autism, additional learning difficulties and complex needs, through a holistic and therapeutic approach. Our mission is to engage with children and young people to enable them to identify their own talents and strengths and to prepare them for a successful and enriched future where they can contribute to society around them, irrespective of their starting point.

The Role

We are looking for talented individuals who want to become part of transforming education for our pupils, using our therapeutic and holistic approach.

You will:-

  • be assigned to one or more pupils as a key worker
  • assist our pupils with their learning, one to one or in small groups, ensuring that they are offered support and guidance
  • prepare learning materials and participate in learning activities with the students
  • help to create and foster a happy and nurturing environment
  • ensure our pupils are safeguarded and protected

Our Successful Candidates

You will be:-

  • a Cache Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant, or working towards this (Edith Kay will offer support for you to gain this qualification)
  • able to evidence a good level of attainment at GCSE in maths and English
  • able to demonstrate experience of working with young people, preferably in a teaching environment, or in an after-school club
  • approachable and motivated to achieve the very best outcomes for our pupils
  • empathetic and interested in mental health, behaviour and social and emotional needs of young people
  • resilient and able to respond with patience and composure if behaviour becomes challenging
  • competent in the use of technology, with a willingness to use this in your support
  • an excellent communicator
