Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to work in the Primary Nurture department our SEMH School on a permanent basis, starting in September, or sooner.

The Harbour School is a committed team- striving to provide the very best education for the children in their care. The school is looking to appoint an equally committed teaching assistant to work in the primary area of the school.

Do you want to work in a school where the well-being of the pupils is at the heart of everything you do?  Are you a creative thinker; resilient and want to make a difference every day to the students you work with?

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed teaching assistant who has a range of skills and experience to call upon.

We are looking for:

• A teaching assistant who is able to meet a range of complex needs

• A positive role model

• A team member who is able to show a flexible approach

• Nurture room experience, desirable.

The successful candidate will be a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individual with high expectations to support teaching in our primary setting.  The successful candidate will play a significant role in improving the quality of  pupils’ learning, together with promoting the vision, values and aspirations of the school and its wider community.

Our learners have complex needs, and so the successful candidate will be able to ensure that they have the skills to support the teacher as they deliver the curriculum and fully engage pupils in their learning, meeting their individual needs and facilitating sustained learner progress.

The Harbour School currently caters for boys from 5-16 years who have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP) for social, emotional and mental health needs. We currently have 89 pupils on roll who attend from all over the Cambridgeshire area and sometimes from outside the county. Our school is situated in rural Cambridgeshire. The generous grounds, including the wooded area and pond, are fully utilised through enrichment activities throughout the school day.

This is an exciting time for us all as at The Harbour having recently joined CMAT. Join us as we embark upon our journey towards becoming an outstanding provision, with the opportunities to build on the strengths and experiences of our community in collaboration with other schools in the trust.

Please call the school office on 01353 740229 for further information.

The Harbour School is committed to Equal Opportunities and to safeguarding including the Prevent agenda; and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Giving false information is an offence and could result in the application being rejected and referred to the police. Any appointment made will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, right to work in the UK and qualifications check, satisfactory references and medical clearance before the position commences.
