A helping hand from you. A head start for them.

We want all our young people to have the best chance of success in life. To make sure that’s the case, you’ll give them extra help when they’re in the classroom. The right support can really make an enormous difference. As a Teaching Assistant, you have to be understanding and committed. That’s because the young people in our schools have social, emotional, mental health and complex learning needs that call for extra dedication. Help them progress and you’ll have every opportunity to do the same with your career.

The role

As a Teaching Assistant at Meadow View Learning Centre you’ll have a key role to play in the development of our young people. We cater for students with special educational needs, which means they need more help than most. You’ll work with individuals, groups and classes, helping children learn and develop. Working to boost their self-esteem and encourage acceptance from others, you’ll also support the teacher by monitoring young people’s work. If your skills are well developed, you could take on more duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities.

Your profile

As an experienced Teaching Assistant already, you should be used to life in the classroom and up to date with welfare and safeguarding practices within Education. You’ll also need to be qualified to at least NVQ level 2 (or equivalent), but what we’re really looking for is the ability to connect. We need you to build great relationships with all our young people, so you can motivate them to do well and be the best that they can be. If you’re emotionally strong and good in a team, we can offer a role with exciting prospects.  There are occasional meetings outside school hours, for which your attendance will be required.

We know you’re going to do great things as part of our brilliant team. To say thank you, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, full school holidays (including bank holidays), contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, and Cycle to Work Scheme. We’ll also cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check, which is a compulsory part of our recruitment process.

This is a fixed term contract from 1st September 2020 to 20th July 2021).
