Addington Valley Academy (AVA) is a co-educational Special School which will have 150 places for children and young people aged 2-19 who have autism and social communication, cognitive, sensory and social, emotional, and behavioural needs in the Croydon region. All our children have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). We opened in September 2020 with an initial cohort of 22 ASD year 7 pupils in a temporary site based in Croydon.

Addington Valley Academy are seeking to recruit Teaching Assistants with the drive and creativity to work under the guidance of teaching staff to support learners to make exceptional progress in all aspects of school life. You will assist in meeting the learners’ need for encouragement, reassurance and comfort and attend to their personal requirements and physical care while encouraging independence at all times. You will supervise and provide particular support for pupils (which maybe on a 1:1 basis), ensuring their safety and access to learning activities and create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work.

This is an exciting time in the school’s development with a planned relocation to a newly constructed school building for the academic year 2021-22 with a fantastic learning environment designed to meet the needs of autistic children.

Addington Valley Academy benefits from being part of Orchard Hill College (the College) and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (the Trust), a family of specialist education providers for pupils and students from nursery to further education across London, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex.
